What is an Infectious Disease?
An infectious disease is a medical condition caused by the invasion and growth of pathogens (microorganisms or germs) within a host organism’s body. These pathogens can include bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Infectious diseases can be transmitted from one individual to another, either directly or indirectly, through various means such as respiratory droplets, contaminated food or water, insect bites, or sexual contact.

Types of Common Infections
Our approach to patient care is first and foremost to establish the correct diagnosis. We take the necessary time to obtain a thorough history and exam. We also obtain focused feedback through laboratory and medical imaging testing when needed. Common infections include:
- Surgical wound infections
- Infections in bone marrow & solid organ transplant
- Vascular infections
- Tick-borne infections
- Skin & soft tissue infections
- Bone & joint infections
- Viral infections
- Chronic hepatitis
- Reoccurring urinary tract infections
- Sexually transmitted infections

Live a longer, healthier life.
Antiviral therapy is one of the most exciting aspects of virology, since it has successfully employed basic science to generate very effective treatments for serious viral infections.
Therapy for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection has demonstrated that the potential impact antivirals can have on a lethal, chronic infection with lifesaving therapy administered to more than 12 million individuals by 2015.
Travel Medicine
Traveling well prepared is more important. CIDA is committed to the health and safety of our patients. Today more than ever it’s important to understand the country you are visiting and how to best prevent exposure to an infectious disese while abroad.
We are a full-service traveler’s health clinic specializing in travel medicine and preventative treatments for individuals who travel abroad. Our traveler health plan includes vaccination for prevention of diseases, including Tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis A and B, to treatment of illnesses acquired during travel including tuberculosis, malaria or Dengue fever.

Every Wound is Different.
If you or a loved one has a wound or sore that has not healed in 30 days, you may have what is referred to as a “chronic, non-healing” wound. The occurance of chronic wounds is expected to increase as our population ages. The impact of chronic wounds on the health and quality of life of patients and their families should not be underestimated. Patients with chronic wounds may experience chronic pain, loss of function and mobility, increased social stress and isolation, depression and anxiety, prolonged hospitalization, increased financial burden, and increased morbidity and mortality.

Our Approach to Physician Referrals
Working with us
We focus on you, the whole patient, making sure that you have the support you need throughout your care. We are committed to clear and timely communication with you, your referring provider, and other healthcare specialists, beginning before your initial visit and continuing throughout your cycle of care.
Clear, collabrative cycle of care
Once our clinic receives a referral from your primary care provider, a member of the CIDA care team will communicate with your PCP to obtain needed medical records and other information.
If you have received medical treatment from a provider other than your primary care provider, the care team will contact you to receive a written Authorization to Receive Medical Records from your other provider(s). CIDA generally will schedule your initial appointment once we have received all relevant records. Once all records have been received and reviewed, a team member will contact you to schedule your initial consultation.
